Tony Evans in his book Kingdom Man says, “The Kingdom Man is the kind of man that when his feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, “Oh crap, he’s up.” I know a lot of men across Hampton Roads that the devil can say the same thing about them. They are Pastors and Men’s Ministry Leaders that are making a difference. They know that the men of their church should not only set the pace for the church, but also for their families, as well as, a powerful witness in their work environment. They are making a difference!
Tony goes on to say, “A kingdom man understands that God never said a godly life would be easy; He just said it would be worth it.” The man who is sold out to Christ understands that life is not a lay ground, but rather a battle ground. He prepares himself for spiritual battle on a daily basis. He expects that there will be challenges to his faith. “Dreams will be attained or relinquished.”
He uses the analogy that there are three teams on the field, the offense, the defense, and the third team, the officials and their allegiance is to an entirely different kingdom called the NFL office. This kingdom supersedes, over rules, and sits above all others.
And so it is with the Kingdom of God. We either play by His rules or we are penalized by our own stupidity. Disobedience is doing exactly the opposite of what God intends for us to do. God promises abundant life in John 10:10 and most men miss it entirely because they don’t even know the rules of the game of life, let alone obey them.
At the Gathering of Men every day we do our best to help churches disciple men. In our first 25 years it has been our pleasure and joy to work with 125,297 men through local churches of most every denomination.
Iron Sharpens Iron is only a little over a week away on October 22nd at London Bridge Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Now is the time to sign your men up. We have the definite potential of “selling out” before then, so please get your men signed up. For more information, go to www.gatheringofmen.com or call us at 757-599-4008.
