Be the Man God Created You to Be
Mark Batterson in Going All In says, “I call it the inverted gospel. We say we are following Jesus, but in reality we have invited Jesus to follow us. Newsflash: You are not the center of the universe!” He goes on to say, “I stopped trying to find myself and decided to seek God.” More than a hundred years ago a British revivalist issued a holy dare that has echoed across generations: “The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Christ.” When D. L. Moody heard those words they shot straight to his soul and as they say, “The rest is history.” It was true of Moody, but what about you? Why not you? Why not now? It is your turn to live out your faith in the world where God has placed you as His servant.
God wants you to consecrate yourself to Him. The word consecrate means to set yourself apart. By definition consecration means full devotion. Consecration is going all in and all out for the ALL in ALL. Some people think the Christian life is boring. If you let go and let God take control, He’ll write history, His story, through your life.
At Iron Sharpens Iron this year we want to reach out to millennials (roughly 25-35 years old). This demographic is generally missing in most churches and that is why we have churches closing their doors every week in America. It’s not all bad because many of these churches are giving their buildings to younger congregations and in one week they often go from a handful of people to several hundred over night. Thank God for us older folks who are wise enough to trust young Christians with our buildings! The seven last words of the church are “We never did it that way before!” Everything must change or it dies.
This is your opportunity to invite the young men in your life to something that God can use to change their lives forever. Right now, write down the names and phones numbers of 10 young men you know. Men you are related to, men you work with and men in the neighborhood. Invite and pay their way to Iron Sharpens Iron and watch what God will do in their lives. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 757-599-4008.
